Hello from Vermont! Welcome to Havenscape Kitchen, my blog featuring fresh, simple, and wholesome recipes – always made with love. I live in our farmhouse in a little corner of heaven in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. I’m a born and raised Vermonter (pronounced ‘Ver-mon-r’ because around these parts, ‘t”s are silent), a mom of two wonderful children, and wife to a dairy farmer. Away from home, I am a community health wellness nurse working with the young-at-heart elderly. Lastly, I’m secretly an HGTV serial watcher and Pinterest enthusiast!
Why blog? My daughter, Courteney, asked me to start writing down all my recipes so she can have them one day. I think jetting off to college soon was beginning to sink in, and she would have to try out ‘adulting’ on her own. So with my heart full, I started thinking about how I could share my recipes, or lack thereof, with her. Usually I just make dinner without any real recipe so just copying them would have been difficult. Of course, I could have taken the easy way out and wrote them in a notebook, but I wanted to do something more fulfilling so I decided to share my recipes with her, and the rest of you, giving everyone a little insight into our life here in Vermont through this blog, Havenscape.
And can I tell you how hard it is to come up with a blog name! After numerous name ideas, I finally decided I had to go back to basics and ask myself what matters most (besides family)—the answer: where we live. I could create this blog from anywhere, but wouldn’t want to do it anywhere else. This location is my haven. We built our farmhouse on the farmland my husband grew up on because of its pristine landscape, seclusion, and unbelievable views.
My journey has led me to this blog. It’s not just about recipes, it’s about the whole kitchen, family, food, health, gatherings, and farm-life here in Vermont. I hope you enjoy it!
